James Brown, a three-time Emmy Award winner and an icon in the sports broadcasting industry, will be honored with Lifetime Achievement honors at the 45th Annual Sports Emmy Awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 21. The ceremony will take place at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall in New York.

Adam Sharp, President of NATAS, praised Brown as a world-class talent who has had a profound impact on sports media. Brown’s work on the Super Bowl, championship game coverage, and as a correspondent for CBS Sports’ shows like THE NFL TODAY and INSIDE THE NFL has been influential and sets a high standard in the industry. It is with great pleasure that he will be receiving this Lifetime Achievement Award.

Stephen Head, the Head of Sports Emmy Awards, lauded James Brown’s career as the host of iconic sports studio shows, highlighting his authentic and distinctive style that sets him apart in sports broadcasting. Brown’s legacy of excellence in sports programming is well-deserving of this honor.

In his response to being selected for the award, James Brown expressed his humility and gratitude. He acknowledges that his success is due to the collaborative efforts of the many people he has worked with over the years. Brown is known for hosting pregame shows like THE NFL TODAY, NFL ON FOX, and INSIDE THE NFL, as well as serving as a special correspondent for CBS News on programs like 60 MINUTES and CBS EVENING NEWS.

Beyond his broadcasting career, James Brown holds a degree from Harvard University and is an ordained minister. He is actively involved in charitable organizations such as GENYOUth, The Ron & Joy Paul Kidney Center at George Washington University
