At the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston, Jamaica, Oblique Seville of Jamaica made history by defeating the reigning 100m world champion, Noah Lyles. The 23-year-old sprinter ran a personal best time of 9.82 seconds, which is now the world lead leading up to the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

Seville’s impressive performance improved upon his previous personal best of 9.86 seconds, despite narrowly missing the podium at the world championships in 2022 and 2023. However, this victory marked a significant achievement for him as he prepares for Paris 2024. His hard work and dedication to the sport paid off in this thrilling competition against a top-class field that included Lyles.

Noah Lyles finished just 0.02 seconds behind Seville with a time of 9.85 seconds in his first 100m race of the year. Despite falling short of victory, Lyles showed his competitive spirit and displayed his talent on the track once again.
