In an exclusive interview with “La Repubblica”, Giuseppe Conte, the leader of the 5 Star Movement, has criticized the Meloni government for weakening anti-corruption rules and undermining the judiciary’s powers. He expressed his concern over what he described as a deliberate effort to dismantle essential investigative tools piecemeal.
Conte pointed to what he called “ignoble attacks” against Vice President of the Anti-Mafia, Cafiero De Raho and the Anti-Mafia Prosecutor’s Office as evidence of the government’s undermining of these institutions. He highlighted the abuse of personal information accessed outside the DNA during De Raho’s management, which is being used to question the entire structure of the Anti-Mafia efforts rather than address the specific issue at hand.
