Elbit Systems, an Israeli company, has announced a partnership with German airline Lufthansa Technik on military drones. The collaboration is through Lufthansa Technik’s subsidiary and will involve the production and maintenance of eight Hermes 900 StarLiner UAVs. This marks Lufthansa Technik’s first venture into UAV maintenance, having previously supported NATO aircraft fleets such as F-35 fighter jets, Chinook transport helicopters, and Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft.
The German Navy is interested in purchasing these UAVs from Elbit Systems for supply and maintenance purposes. The financial details of the contract have not been disclosed yet. However, reports suggest that this partnership will bring new opportunities for both companies to expand their operations and reach new markets.
