On Monday, the Iranian government emphasized that nuclear weapons have no place in Tehran’s military doctrine, following comments from a Revolutionary Guard commander about potentially reviewing this position in response to threats from Israel. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Naser Kanani reiterated that Iran’s nuclear doctrine focuses on peaceful use of nuclear energy and does not include nuclear weapons in its defense strategy. He stated that Iran’s position on this matter has been clear and consistent in the past.

Tensions in the Middle East escalated when a Revolutionary Guard commander mentioned the possibility of revising Iran’s nuclear doctrine if Israel threatens to attack its nuclear facilities. In response, Iran launched missiles and drones towards Israeli territory after Israel bombed the Iranian Consulate in Damascus. Kanani emphasized that Iran’s actions were aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the region.

Regarding a drone attack on the Iranian city of Isfahan, Kanani stated that the targets had no military value and there was no damage. He emphasized that Iran will firmly and decisively respond to any aggressive actions from Israel or its supporters. Kanani reiterated that Iran’s goal is to establish stability and peace in the region, using all its capabilities to protect national security.
