U.S. Senator Joni Ernst, Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, has recognized Mustard Seed Company of Monroe County as her Small Business of the Week for this Congress. Throughout this term, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

Sarah Hopkins has successfully grown her quality home decor, furnishings, and gifts store idea over the last six years into two thriving small businesses. She first launched Mustard Seed Company on the Main Street of Albia and then expanded to create The Seedling. With the support of her family and employees, Hopkins has become a key community leader in growing the Albia economy.

In 2017, Sarah Hopkins and her husband Curt transformed a former car dealership on Albia’s Main Street into Mustard Seed Company. Four years later, Sarah opened The Seedling, a women’s and children’s boutique, just two doors down. Besides running the boutique and home decor store, Sarah is actively involved in the Albia community. Her contributions were recognized when she and her husband were awarded the 2022 Excellence in Design and Placemaking by the Albia Chamber Main Street.

Ranking Member Ernst commended Sarah Hopkins for her dedication and success and looks forward to seeing more Iowa small businesses recognized with the Small Business of the Week award.
