In the realm of international law, a landmark case has been brought to the International Court of Justice in Nicaragua’s lawsuit against Germany. The lawsuit accuses Germany of aiding in the “genocide of the Palestinians” and demands that Germany cease all military and other cooperation with Israel. The Nicaraguan Ambassador to the Netherlands, Carlos José Arguelo Gomez, leading the Nicaraguan delegation, stated that the case concerns the lives and well-being of thousands of people and the destruction of an entire people. He criticized Germany for not fulfilling its obligations to prevent genocide and uphold international law.

The Nicaraguan diplomat warned that if Israel continues to act with impunity, future generations of Palestinians will rise up against this injustice. In response, a lawyer from the German delegation, Tanya von Uslar-Gleichen, called the statements biased and stated that Germany would address them in court on April 9.
