Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez is set to undergo his medicals ahead of his move to Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri have identified him as a long-term heir to Yann Sommer in goal, and have been chasing him since last month. According to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Martinez will sign a five-year contract with Inter until the end of June 2029, worth around €1.5 million net per season.

Inter’s plan is to have the 26-year-old back up Sommer next season and then inherit the starting spot in the long term. While Martinez is not the only keeper considered by Inter, he is the one they will be signing this summer. Negotiations between Inter and Genoa took place over the last couple of weeks of July, ultimately resulting in a straight cash fee of around €15 million being agreed upon.

Tomorrow, Martinez will undergo his medicals before officially becoming part of Inter’s squad ahead of their preseason training camp. The Spaniard’s move to Inter has been widely anticipated, and now it is set to become a reality.
