In challenging environments like air pollution control applications, hydrophobic properties are crucial for maintaining optimal filtration performance.
For instance, in gas turbine applications, water repellency acts as a barrier against liquid water and dissolved salts entering the filter, thereby protecting the turbine from corrosion. Similarly, hydrophobic materials help conserve energy by reducing the increase in pressure drop during humid conditions in air pollution control applications.
