A hotel development group based in Kentucky is planning to build a new Hampton Inn and Suites on Summa Avenue in the Baton Rouge Health District, just a block away from Essen Lane. Athena Hospitality Group, headquartered in Florence, Kentucky, is behind the proposed project. The hotel is planned to be four stories tall and feature 105 rooms, according to documents filed with the Planning Department.

Pending approval by the Planning Commission, construction on the new hotel is expected to begin soon. This expansion effort is part of Athena Hospitality Group’s larger portfolio of hotels across the country, which includes a variety of hotel brands. The company already operates 15 hotels nationwide and has plans to open two more hotels in Gonzales and Howell Place.

The 63,000-square-foot hotel plans are currently under review by the Planning Commission and will be discussed at their upcoming May meeting. Athena Hospitality Group’s proposed development in Baton Rouge will bring more lodging options to the area for visitors and travelers.
