On March 21, 2024, the Hawai’i Department of Health (DOH) issued a red placard and immediately shut down Delice Crepes (lunch wagon) in Hale’iwa due to critical violations found during an inspection. The food truck, located at 66-472 Kamehameha Hwy, had no functioning hand-washing stations inside.

The main violation noted by the DOH inspector was that the single sink designated for hand washing inside the mobile unit was not operational. This meant that there were no other options available for hand-washing inside the unit, posing a serious risk to public health. After taking corrective actions, a follow-up inspection on March 22, 2024, determined that the establishment had addressed the violation and was approved to reopen.

The DOH Food Safety Branch works to protect and promote the health of Hawai’i residents and visitors by regulating food establishments and educating food industry workers. The branch conducts routine health inspections at food establishments where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold.
