Hanwha Aerospace Co in South Korea has announced that it will be spinning off its industrial solutions and semiconductor equipment businesses from its flagship defense division. This move is part of Hanwha Group’s efforts to enhance management efficiency and reinforce business competitiveness within the company.

The spinoff aligns with Hanwha Group’s strategy to streamline its defense business, which will now be the primary focus of Hanwha Aerospace. Analysts view this restructuring positively, as it will enable the company to implement additional growth strategies and enhance its defense business initiatives. This move is expected to strengthen the company’s position in the defense industry.

Following the spinoff, Hanwha Aerospace will consolidate its defense businesses, including its subsidiaries Hanwha Ocean and Hanwha System, which are involved in vessels, ground-based equipment, and space launch vehicles. This restructuring will further solidify the company’s presence in the defense sector and allow for better coordination across its defense-related operations.

Shares of Hanwha Aerospace saw a significant increase of more than 15% on Tuesday as investors anticipated the spinoff and the company’s enhanced focus on defense. The restructuring of the governance and strategic focus of Hanwha Aerospace signifies a step towards strengthening its position in the defense industry.
