In April 2024, MilDef Group, a global defense group based in the US, announced that Handheld has secured a contract to supply operator computers for nano drones to be used for military battlefield surveillance. This contract follows a development order announced in July 2023 with a value of SEK 69 million and potential for growth with additional deliveries planned for 2025-2026.

The customized control computer provided by Handheld is based on a 7-inch ultra-rugged Android tablet. The use of drone technology has significantly impacted modern warfare, revolutionizing military operations by enhancing capabilities and changing the dynamics of the battlefield.

Daniel Ljunggren, CEO of MilDef Group, highlighted the collaborative efforts between MilDef and Handheld that resulted in the contract. Handheld’s strong, lightweight, durable, and powerful tablets are seen as crucial for developing advanced computers for soldiers to carry in the field.
