Hai Phong is rapidly becoming a hub for high-quality human resources in the electronics and semiconductor industry, thanks to its strong collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology. Minister Huynh Thanh Dat expressed his confidence in this potential during an evaluation of the Program to coordinate activities on science and innovation with the People’s Committee of Hai Phong City.

Hai Phong has been actively implementing the coordination program by providing data for the Local Innovation Index (PII), applying quality systems according to standards, and facilitating technology supply and demand connections. This has led to Hai Phong city ranking third nationwide in terms of PII, which is a testament to its dedication to investments in science, technology, and innovation activities over the years.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Giang emphasized the importance of Hai Phong continuing to focus on innovation and science and technology, allocating resources and implementing effective methods to further progress. The Ministry of Science and Technology proposed that Hai Phong City spend approximately 2% of its budget on innovation and science and technology activities.

A cooperation agreement was signed between various entities to train engineers and experts specializing in microchips to meet the growing demands of the semiconductor industry, which is increasingly vital in the global economy. Minister Huynh Thanh Dat highlighted Vietnam’s potential in the semiconductor industry and the opportunities for development in this sector. He discussed the growing interest from large corporations and domestic companies in investing in semiconductor development in Vietnam.

Business representatives expressed satisfaction with Hai Phong City’s investment attraction policies and pledged long-term investment in sustainable practices. The Minister acknowledged the importance of collaboration with Japanese companies to access rare earth resources, which are essential for semiconductor production.
