On Monday, India is currently experiencing its longest heat wave ever, with temperatures expected to continue rising. The heat wave has been ongoing for about 24 days in various parts of the country, similar to the extreme temperatures recorded in New Delhi in 2022 when it reached 49.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Egypt is also facing an unprecedented heat wave, particularly in the governorates of Upper Egypt. Tragically, approximately 50 Sudanese individuals have died in recent days due to sunstroke while attempting to enter Egypt unofficially through the desert. In Greece, the country is bracing itself for its first heat wave of the year, expected to begin today, Tuesday, with temperatures surpassing 40 degrees Celsius. There are concerns about the risk of wildfires breaking out in vast areas of the country.

The Indian Meteorological Department chief, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, issued a warning of increasingly high temperatures and urged people to take precautions. As the heat waves continue to impact various regions, authorities are urging people to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and be vigilant against the threat of fires. In Greece, wildfires are a major concern as temperatures reach up to 42 degrees Celsius in central regions and Athens experienced a severe heat wave with temperatures set to reach 38 degrees Celsius by Thursday. With summer just around the corner and heat waves already making their presence felt across different parts of the world, it’s important for everyone to take necessary precautions and stay safe during this time.
