The G7 Climate, Energy, and Environment meeting held at the Royal Palace of Venaria has resulted in significant achievements, as announced by Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin. The Venaria Charter signifies a major step forward for the G7 countries in their efforts to combat climate change and environmental issues.

One of the key objectives achieved was the commitment to phase out coal by 2035, marking the first time such a concrete objective has been set. This move aligns with Italy’s stance on the matter and demonstrates a significant commitment from the G7 countries towards reducing their carbon footprint.

The issue of water was also addressed for the first time, highlighting the importance of this crucial resource. Discussions on nuclear power resulted in an agreement for joint research and production of clean energy, further strengthening Italy’s stance on this matter. Similarly, biofuels were included as a commitment, with key European countries and Brazil pledging their support.

Another important aspect of the meeting was Italy’s emphasis on fostering growth and equality in Africa. This topic received widespread support from all participating countries, underscoring the need for cooperation and integration on a global scale. By addressing these key issues and reaching common goals, the G7 countries have shown leadership and initiative in tackling pressing environmental challenges.
