Tyson Fury suffered his first defeat in his 36-fight career against Oleksandr Usyk. The split decision loss in May’s undisputed heavyweight contest in Saudi Arabia made Usyk the first four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion. Despite disputing the result, Fury is now preparing for a rematch with Usyk scheduled for December 21.

Fury expressed his confidence in defeating Usyk this time but acknowledged that he may need a knockout to secure a victory. There are concerns over whether the undisputed title will be on the line again in the rematch, as the IBF is considering stripping Usyk of the belt for not making a mandatory defense. Usyk has requested an exception to keep hold of the belt for their upcoming fight.

Fury admitted that he may have had too much fun in the ring and that his laid-back approach cost him in the ninth round. He described Usyk as a “local amateur boxer” after watching back the bout. However, he believes he won the fight and is determined to face Usyk again. He is already back in the gym training for the rematch, determined to prove his worth as one of boxing’s greatest champions.
