Harry Darling believed that Swansea City owed their fans a strong performance against Stoke City. Following their victory over Cardiff City in March, Liam Cullen, Matt Grimes, and Josh Key all scored as the Swans secured a 3-0 victory over the Potters. This win put them seven points clear of the Championship relegation zone with four matches left in the season. The triumph over Stoke came just days after a disappointing 2-0 loss to Middlesbrough, with head coach Luke Williams criticizing the team’s performance as “unacceptable.”

Darling emphasized that improved intensity levels were crucial in Swansea’s win over Stoke. He acknowledged that the recent results had not been in their favor and stressed the importance of consistently reaching their potential. The defender admitted that they had been lacking intensity in recent weeks but expressed confidence in their abilities when they play with the right intensity. He believed that Swansea could compete with any team in the league when they perform at their best, setting a positive tone for the future.

Reflecting on his own role in Swansea’s performance, Darling praised Williams as the right man to lead the team to better times ahead. He commended the coach’s support and believed in his ability to guide Swansea to success in the future. With safety in the Championship nearly secured, Darling expressed gratitude for Williams’ efforts and looked forward to continuing their journey together towards promotion.

Despite losing two games consecutively before winning against Stoke, Darling believes that Swansea owed it to themselves and fans to give it everything they had against Stoke City.

“We knew we needed a big performance,” said Darling after the match.

“The recent results had not been going our way so we knew we needed to deliver something special for both ourselves and our fans.”

The defender was especially proud of how intense they played throughout
