A pole vaulter from The Woodlands, Texas, Brynn King, has secured her spot on the U.S. track and field team for the Paris Summer Games after clearing a personal best record of 4.73 meters at the trials in Eugene, Oregon. King was ecstatic upon hearing the news and expressed her emotions saying, “I knew I was in, but at the same time it doesn’t really set in. And Rick grabbed me and was like ‘You did it. You made the team.’ And it was like immediate tears.”
King found a supportive environment at Roberts Wesleyan University where she trained under her coach, Jenn Suhr, a former gold medalist. Suhr recruited King and has been instrumental in her success. Looking ahead to the Paris Games, King plans to return to Rochester for training before heading to Paris as a part of Team USA. This will be her first time competing on such an esteemed international stage and she is determined to give her best performance with the support of her coach and university behind her.
