Earlier this month, Dominic Clemons won the Scottish Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Muirfield with a 17-shot lead. Now, he is set to face off against Denmark’s Jacob Skov Olesen in the Amateur Championship final at Ballyliffin in County Donegal.

In the quarter-finals, Clemons defeated Germany’s Laurenz Schiergen by requiring 20 holes to secure a win. He then narrowly defeated fellow Englishman Jack Bigham by just one hole in the last four. On the other hand, Olesen triumphed over Scotland’s Calum Scott and bested USA’s Luke Sample in the semi-finals.

Despite difficult playing conditions due to wet weather, Clemons described his semi-final match as a “bit of a struggle.” He acknowledged making some poor shots but considered himself lucky in some instances. Clemons, representing the Gog Magog club in Cambridgeshire, expressed satisfaction with his performance against Bigham and recognized his opponent’s talent as well.

The stakes are high in the final, with the winner earning a coveted spot in next month’s Open Championship at Royal Troon and an invitation to play in the Masters. Ballyliffin, known for hosting the DP World Tour’s Irish Open in 2018, is the location for this year’s Amateur Championship, marking a historic first for the course in north Donegal.
