A man who stole money from the tip jar at a Miami Beach business has been arrested, Local 10 News learned. Jail records show that Jeffrey Lewis Scott, 33, was taken into custody on a petit theft charge on Wednesday. Police say he is the thief who was caught on surveillance video stealing money from the Bagel Time Cafe located at 3915 Alton Road earlier this week.

Previously, the Bagel Time Cafe had been in the news for someone taking down an Israeli flag hanging outside and stomping on it. That happened three times in a matter of months, its owner said. This time, all the thief seemed to want was someone else’s hard-earned cash. “Smooth as butter,” Bagel Time owner Josh Nodel told Local 10 on Tuesday, adding that the crook got away with $200. “He comes inside, comes to the counter, goes to my wife…I guess she was giving him a free bagel.”

As of Thursday morning, Scott was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond. Copyright 2024 by WPLG Local10.com – All rights reserved.
