Astronaut Jose Hernandez recently made a special appearance at the El Paso Science Festival, inspiring young minds with his journey from a migrant farm worker to becoming an astronaut. The two-day event attracted families and guests from the Borderland, featuring exhibits on environmental science, space exploration, physics, and mathematics.

Hernandez emphasized the importance of empowering children with dreams similar to his own, showing them that anything is possible regardless of their background. He believes that showcasing diverse role models can motivate young people to pursue their education and dreams. Speaking to ABC-7, Hernandez stressed the significance of children seeing role models who resemble them and share similar life experiences.
