Cornhole, a game that was once reserved for casual backyard fun, has become a highly competitive professional sport in recent years. And one of the players making waves in this new era of cornhole is Yetty Irwan from Fort Collins, Colorado.

Irwan’s journey to becoming a pro is an unusual one. Growing up in Indonesia, she never played games like cornhole. It wasn’t until seven years ago, when her husband set up a board in their basement, that she began to play. Despite coming from a scientific background with a degree in experimental pathology, Irwan transitioned to becoming a professional cornhole player after becoming eligible to go pro with the American Cornhole League (ACL) in 2019.

Now sponsored by companies like Red Bull and Cabela’s, Irwan travels across the country competing in tournaments and also competes at local venues like the Underground in Greeley. She not only aims to win national titles but is also dedicated to growing the sport.

Irwan has mentored younger players like Colt Kenner, who is quickly making a name for himself locally. She has also helped promote cornhole globally, including back in Indonesia where she assisted in starting the sport there last year. In the local community, Irwan hopes to continue helping beginners improve their skills through clinics and support. She is enthusiastic about the growth of cornhole both locally and internationally and her dedication to promoting the sport is evident through her involvement with younger players and global initiatives.
