Fox Business host Elizabeth MacDonald recently compared Harvey Weinstein’s overturned rape conviction and the potential future of Donald Trump’s felony verdict. MacDonald suggested that experts believe Trump’s conviction may ultimately be overturned on appeal, similar to Weinstein’s case, which was overturned by the New York Appeals Court four years later due to errors in the handling of the trial.

In Trump’s case, he was convicted on 34 counts of criminal fraud related to falsified business records in a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels. The judge set his sentencing for July 11, but MacDonald raised concerns about the clarity of the verdict and the unanimity of the jury members in reaching their decision.

MacDonald questioned Trump lawyer Alina Habba on the challenges of appealing the conviction when the exact crime is unclear and when the jury was not required to be unanimous in their decision. Habba acknowledged that it is easier to reverse a conviction when crucial details such as the underlying law broken and the intent behind the charges are not clearly defined.
