Julie Mitchell, a former Tequesta village council candidate, has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer with violence. Following the incident, she was transferred to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood for mental health treatment.

According to court records, Mitchell had been holding a knife when she stabbed her husband and daughter. The Palm Beach County judge signed the order for her transfer to the hospital after the incident occurred at her residence on Golfview Drive. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Mitchell inside the home, still armed with the knife. One officer recounted witnessing two other officers struggling with Mitchell as they tried to take the knife away from her.

Despite being at JFK North Hospital for treatment, Mitchell made statements about God and renounced Satan while referring to her husband, daughter, and their dog as evil. The tumultuous situation led to her transfer to a mental health treatment facility for further care.

Court records indicate that if successful in treatment, Mitchell will return to court for continuation of her case. A status check hearing is scheduled for August.
