David King, the former global co-head of technology, media, and telecom M&A at Bank of America, has been appointed as the global head of Barclays Plc’s technology mergers and acquisitions business. He will be based in San Francisco and report to Ihsan Essaid, Barclays’ global head of M&A.

In his new role, King will work closely with Kristin Roth DeClark, the global head of technology investment banking at Barclays. With a career spanning roughly 25 years in investment banking, he has advised companies such as Intel Corp., Amazon.com Inc., and Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc. King has also played a role in growing the tech M&A business at Deutsche Bank AG in Germany.

According to Roth DeClark, King’s appointment is a demonstration of their continued investment in technology investment banking and their ability to attract top talent in the market. Barclays has been ranked in the top 10 advisers on tech M&A deals this year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. They have worked on deals such as IBM’s acquisition of software company HashiCorp Inc. for $6.4 billion.
