A New Jersey fire chief has been arrested for vandalizing a man’s sports car in a fit of rage over rainwater from his sump pump. Joshua Scolnick was caught on camera dumping a bucket of rocks, mud, and gravel onto Mark Bahna’s 1995 Nissan Nismo 270R while it was parked next to the firehouse where he works.

Bahna, a collector and seller of Japanese sports cars, claimed that Scolnick was upset about the rainwater seeping over to the Arbor Hose Company #1 next door. The car’s owner stated that the vehicle was scratched and dented in the incident, and mentioned that it is priceless and may be one of only two ’95 Nismo 270R’s currently in the US.

CBS New York tried to reach out to the firehouse where Scolnick works but did not receive any responses. Piscataway Fire District No. 3 also did not respond to messages. Police charged Scolnick with third-degree criminal mischief and released him on a summons complaint. The incident has caused outrage in the community, with many discussing the damage done to Bahna’s rare sports car.
