In January, the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to cease any genocidal acts and ensure that humanitarian aid reaches civilians in Gaza. The ongoing efforts of organizations like the World Central Kitchen are vital in providing support and assistance to the people of Gaza during these challenging times. On March 30, four vessels set sail from Cyprus loaded with food to help feed civilians in Gaza as part of the World Central Kitchen’s efforts.

The small flotilla consists of three ships and a barge carrying 400 tons of cargo to feed those in northern Gaza, where obtaining humanitarian aid has been challenging due to the conflict between Hamas and Israel. The food supplies on the vessels are intended to provide over a million meals to the starving population in Gaza, adding to the more than 43 million meals already sent by the WCK through various modes of transportation.

Due to the destruction of the Port of Gaza during the war, a makeshift jetty is being used to receive the goods by sea. The United States is also constructing a floating pier to facilitate the arrival of more humanitarian aid to Gaza, although it will take some time to complete. The WCK’s first shipment of 200 tons of food arrived in Gaza on March 15.
