Fantasy Sports Company Expands in Atlanta with $25 Million Investment, Plans for 1,000 New Hires

PrizePicks, a fantasy sports company, has announced plans to expand its operations in Atlanta by hiring an additional 1,000 employees over a period of seven years. The company intends to set up its new headquarters in an office building northwest of downtown with an investment of $25 million.

The company is looking to fill positions such as software engineers, analysts, marketers, and other roles. While specific salary details were not disclosed, CEO Adam Wexler mentioned that the positions would be “high-skilled and high-wage.” Currently, PrizePicks has more than 500 full-time and 160 part-time employees, with some staff located in the Philippines.

Despite sports betting still being illegal in Georgia, PrizePicks and similar fantasy sports platforms can operate within the state by offering games based on skill rather than chance. Players can earn cash prizes by selecting athletes and earning points based on their performance in contests across major American sports leagues, and even in unconventional sports like cornhole.

The announcement of PrizePicks’ expansion was met with enthusiasm by civic leaders who see it as a testament to Atlanta’s ability to attract talent from its universities and provide a high quality of life and strong global connections through its airport. Governor Brian Kemp expressed Georgia’s continued growth and innovation in the tech sector, attracting companies with its talent pool and infrastructure.

While the specific incentives offered to PrizePicks were not disclosed, the company could be eligible for up to $8.75 million in state income tax credits over five years if new hires earn a minimum of $31,300 annually. This expansion highlights Atlanta’s position as a hub for tech growth and innovation, drawing in companies like PrizePicks with its unique blend of talent and resources.
