The community is invited to join Valdosta State University for Science Saturday: Tree of Life, an educational event that will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on April 13 at the Hugh C. Bailey Science Center. The event, presented by the College of Science and Mathematics and the Department of Biology, promises to be an exciting opportunity for people of all ages to learn more about the scientific study of life.

Attendees can participate in various activities such as learning about different animals, plant pigment chromatography, and more. There will also be a species scavenger hunt, interactions with betta fish, and discussions on whether plants feel stress. This event is part of VSU’s STEM Initiative, which aims to inspire the next generation to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Faculty in the College of Science and Mathematics believe that the nation’s economic future is tied to student success in these fields. They are committed to enhancing STEM education at all levels and engaging the public in these subjects. Science Saturday is just one way that VSU is working towards this goal.

The event is free and open to the public, with parking available in various lots around Main Campus. The most convenient parking lots are located along Georgia Avenue between Oak Street and Patterson Street, no VSU parking permit is needed for this event. After Science Saturday: Tree of Life
