Recently, the Troy Pike Center for Technology hosted two events that brought together high school students from Charles Henderson High School, Goshen High School, and Pike County High School. The first event was Careers Are Fun Day, which took place in two sessions, each tailored to students in grades 10-12. The goal of this event was to introduce students to a variety of career options and provide them with an opportunity to bond with students from other high schools.
Jamie Rich, assistant principal at the technology center, explained that the event aimed to help students explore different career paths and discover their passions. The sessions included presentations on various industries such as healthcare, engineering, finance, and technology. Students also had the chance to participate in hands-on activities that allowed them to apply their knowledge and skills in a practical setting.
The second event held at the TPCT was Senior Career Signing Day for students who will be entering the military or starting employment or an apprenticeship at local businesses and industries. This day marked a significant milestone in their career journeys as they celebrated their future endeavors and committed themselves to their chosen paths. It was a day of excitement, pride, and camaraderie as students from different schools came together to support their peers in their next steps towards achieving their goals.
