In the 14th district, floristry expert Christina Moritz from “Flowers from Hühnersteig” workshop shares her insights on drooping flowers. According to her, the issue could be caused by either dryness or overwatering. Roses, in particular, require special care when it comes to watering. Moritz advises that roses should be watered in the morning to prevent leaves from burning under strong sunlight combined with water. It is crucial to keep foliage dry in the evening to prevent fungal diseases.

Newly planted roses need more thorough watering during dry weather. However, well-rooted rose bushes can tolerate dryness and heat and require extra water only in extreme conditions. To avoid waterlogging, Moritz recommends planting roses in pots with drainage holes and using a regularly fertilized substrate. Additionally, regularly loosening compacted soil with a small hoe can help maintain healthy roots. Repotting roses may be necessary from time to time but with proper care, they can remain in the same pot for several years.
