WHYY’s secondary station, WHYY-TV 12.2, will begin airing WORLD Channel from July 1st at 5 PM to 5 AM every day. The new and exciting programming can be accessed through various platforms including over the air on WHYY-TV 12.2, Comcast channel 257, Verizon Fios channel 474 and streaming on whyy.org/tv.
WORLD Channel is a unique platform that offers informative and inspiring real stories from around the world. It aims to challenge stereotypes, break barriers and provide unique perspectives on life around us. The channel is anchored by four original series – America ReFramed featuring domestic documentaries, Doc World showcasing international documentaries, Local, USA offering short-form content on local issues of national importance and Stories from the Stage, a multi-platform storytelling series.
In addition to its original programming, WORLD Channel presents films and programs from a variety of filmmakers, public media stations and partners that celebrate diverse cultures and address important issues such as education, healthcare, the environment and politics.
