Everton is currently holding talks with striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and veteran full-back Ashley Young about renewing their contracts. Calvert-Lewin’s current deal with the club will expire next summer, while Young’s contract is set to end next month. Calvert-Lewin, who joined Everton from Sheffield United in 2016, has scored a total of 68 goals in 248 appearances for the Toffees. On the other hand, Young, a former England international, joined Everton on a free transfer last summer and played in 31 Premier League games in the 2023-24 season.
The club is determined not to let key players leave for bargain deals this summer. Kevin Thelwell, Everton’s director of football, emphasized the importance of sustainable trading due to the team’s financial situation. Jarrad Branthwaite, a highly rated defender, has been linked with a possible move to Manchester United, with reports suggesting that an £80m price tag has been placed on him. In terms of incoming transfers, Everton is looking to secure a loan deal for midfielder Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City and is also in negotiations to bring Leeds winger Jack Harrison back on loan for another season.
