Ethiopia’s Tigist Assefa is determined to break her own women’s marathon world record and run under two hours and 10 minutes in the upcoming London marathon. While her ultimate goal is to lower her world record, Assefa emphasizes that winning the race is her main focus.

Feeling confident after setting a new world record of 2:11:53 in Berlin last September, Assefa has been training rigorously to continue improving and achieving greater accomplishments. She runs between 110 and 124 miles per week, as well as four gym sessions to maintain her fitness and endurance. Despite the controversies surrounding Adidas’s Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 super shoe, Assefa will be wearing it again when she competes in London. The lightweight design of the shoe gives her an added advantage during races and helps her conserve energy for future races, including the upcoming Olympic marathon in Paris.
