Erie County athletes recently shone in the District 10 athletic calendar, with standout performances in softball and other sports. This week, we will focus on postseason action at both the district and PIAA levels.

Softball saw some impressive feats, including Gabby DeLuca from McDowell striking out Erie High’s first 10 batters and hitting a two-run home run in the Trojans’ 15-0 victory in the Class 6A final. Iroquois’ Karina Reichard had an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure a dramatic 7-6 victory over Rocky Grove in a PIAA Class 1A quarterfinal. Haylee Farrell from Seneca contributed two hits and two RBIs in the Bobcats’ surprising 8-5 upset over the Mercer Mustangs in the District 10 Class 2A quarterfinal.
