Elena Rybakina has been unstoppable on clay courts in 2024, winning nine out of her ten matches so far. Despite a slow start in her French Open match against Belgium’s Greet Minnen, the world number four managed to come back and secure a victory in the first round.

After being broken to love in her opening service game, Rybakina found her rhythm and won 10 consecutive games to take control of the match. She will now face either three-time major winner Angelique Kerber or Dutch player Arantxa Rus in the second round.

On the other hand, women’s second seed Aryna Sabalenka is set to begin her campaign against Russian teenager Erika Andreeva. British number one Katie Boulter will face Spain’s former quarter-finalist Paula Badosa.

Rybakina has had a successful year so far, winning titles in Brisbane, Abu Dhabi, and the Stuttgart Open in April. However, she was unable to defend her Italian Open title due to illness. The Kazakh player has been dominating on clay courts and it looks like she will continue to do so in the tournament.
