The electrical wholesale market, also known as the ‘pool,’ will open on Monday in April with varying prices per megawatt hour (MWh). This trend in electricity prices continues from March, where the average price was 20 euros/MWh, half of the average price seen in February and 77.5% less than the average in March 2023. In fact, in 16 out of 31 days in March, the average ‘pool’ price was below 10 euros/MWh, with many hours at zero euros/MWh.
On Monday, the day will start with ten hours at zero euros per MWh and three hours at -0.01 euros/MWh, with an average price of 2.76 euros/MWh throughout the day. During the three hours with a negative price between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., consumers who generate energy will have to pay for the electricity they pour into the network. From midnight to 8:00 p.m., electricity prices will be around zero euros, rising to 21.43 euros/MWh from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., which is the maximum price for the day
