The Accelerating Health Equity Conference, led by the American Heart Association (AHA) Community Health Improvement (ACHI) network and AHA’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity (IFDHE), will take place in Kansas City, Mo., starting tomorrow with over 1,000 participants. This year’s theme, Driving Change Together, emphasizes the importance of collaborative leadership from hospitals, health systems, public health departments, and community-based organizations to ensure equitable access to quality health care for all individuals. Although progress has been made in addressing health disparities, there is still much work to be done.

The conference offers a diverse lineup of plenary speakers, breakout sessions, and immersion experiences that cover crucial topics such as building and maintaining community partnerships, addressing complex health and social needs, promoting diversity within leadership teams, and fostering inclusivity in the workplace. Community immersion experiences will allow participants to visit local organizations in Kansas City and witness firsthand community health improvement efforts.

Healthcare challenges are multifaceted and require a collaborative effort from various entities to address them effectively. By working together with community partners, progress towards health equity can be accelerated. Stay updated on conference highlights through AHA Today and AHA’s social media platforms.
