Dr. Michael Mosley, a renowned scientist and author known for his research on diet and fasting methods, recently turned 67. Looking back on his life journey, Dr. Mosley emphasizes the importance of maintaining health and optimism as he ages. He believes in making small changes that can be easily implemented in daily life to bring unexpected benefits, as discussed in his podcast “Just One Thing”.

One of Dr. Mosley’s favorite changes is walking with a cane, inspired by the Nordic walking method popular in Finland. He found that Nordic walking not only strengthens muscles but also reduces waist circumference. This exercise is accessible to all and offers numerous health benefits.

Another change Dr. Mosley adopted is adding flaxseeds to his diet. Despite not being a fan initially, he learned about the heart-healthy benefits of flaxseeds from research conducted by Professor Grant Pierce. Consuming flaxseeds can help reduce high blood pressure and improve heart health.

Dr. Mosley also emphasizes the importance of helping others, as it not only benefits the recipient but also brings happiness and reduces stress. Volunteering has been shown to have significant health benefits, equivalent to being 5 years younger.
