When traveling abroad, airports are often an essential part of the journey. They can vary greatly in terms of busyness, luxury, and overall stress level. Fortuitously, the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2024 recently named Doha Hamad Airport as the best airport in the world, surpassing last year’s winner Singapore Changi. This marks the third time that Doha Hamad Airport has been voted the best by passengers.
The top 20 airports for 2024 include eight European hubs, with Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport ranking sixth and Munich, Zurich, and Istanbul airports also making the top ten. Asia also performed well, with seven airports in the top 20, including four in Japan. Tokyo Haneda and Tokyo Narita are both in the top five, with Centrair Nagoya and Kansai airport also making the list.
In an effort to promote flight-free travel, Spain is set to ban short-haul flights. Additionally, there have been recent climate-related issues at Dubai airport, including floods. Türkiye has introduced a digital nomad visa, and a tourist fee will soon be required for visiting a popular Italian destination.
