A recently discovered dinosaur, named Bustingorrytitan shiva, was found on a farm in Argentina. This 30-meter-long dinosaur, nicknamed “the destroyer”, lived more than 90 million years ago alongside other long-necked megatitanosaurs. A research team led by paleontologist María Edith Simón at the National University of Córdoba described the giant dinosaur based on fossils discovered in western Argentina. They are currently working with an artist to recreate its image.

One of the largest sauropods in history, B. shiva weighing about 67 tons, but not the largest dinosaur – that title belongs to the estimated 70-ton titanosaur Argentinosaurus. The discovery of B. shiva in Northern Patagonia reveals that megatitanosaurs, weighing over 55 tons, evolved separately within the titanosaur group. The first fossils of B. shiva were found by a farmer named Manuel Bustingorry on his land in Neuquén province in 2000 and further excavations led to the discovery of at least four dinosaurs of this new species.
