Scottsdale, Arizona has been ranked as the best place to retire in the US by Niche. The ranking took into account factors such as weather, health and wellness, and outdoor activities. During a recent visit to Scottsdale, I discovered private neighborhoods, award-winning spas, and numerous golf courses that make it an attractive destination for retirees.
The growing population of boomers across the US is choosing to move to Scottsdale due to its appealing retirement options. With a rapidly expanding millionaire population, Scottsdale is an ideal location for retirees looking for a luxurious lifestyle. According to SmartAsset’s 2023 study, 28% of residents in the Phoenix suburb of Scottsdale are boomers. Arizona is attracting more retirees than any other state except Florida, as reported by the same company in 2024.
During my visit to Scottsdale, I spoke with Shawn Shackleton, a real estate agent who has been selling homes in the area for over two decades. She explained that many of her clients are retirees drawn to Scottsdale’s year-round sunshine, luxurious private neighborhoods and abundance of golf courses. With its wide range of amenities and lifestyle options available for retirees, it’s no wonder that Scottsdale has been ranked as the top retirement destination in the US.
