On Saturday, April 27, the College of DuPage will be hosting its annual STEMCON event. This free and open-to-the-public event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at COD’s Physical Education Center in Glen Ellyn. Attendees can expect to participate in hands-on activities at various indoor and outdoor interactive exhibits, such as model rockets, composting activities, welding simulators, fossil exploration, telescopes, chromatography, and more.

The exhibitions at STEMCON are led by real researchers, industry representatives, and STEM educators. In addition to these exhibits, the event will feature a keynote discussion by Emily Calandrelli, the host of Netflix’s “Emily’s Wonder Lab” and FOX’s “Xploration Outer Space.” Her discussion will take place at 12:30 p.m. in the McAninch Arts Center’s Belushi Performance Hall, with doors opening at noon. Seating for Calandrelli’s talk is first-come, first-served, and a book signing will follow.

Following the keynote presentation, there will be a demonstration by Mr. Freeze of Fermilab at 3 p.m. on the MAC stage, showcasing the entertaining properties of cryogenics and extreme cold using liquid nitrogen.
