In Techentin, a fire broke out in an apartment building on “Am Umspannwerk” street late on Wednesday evening, leaving all 13 residents homeless. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but authorities estimate the material damage to be around 800,000 euros. It is suspected that this is a serious case of arson and the police are currently investigating.

Fortunately, all 13 tenants were able to escape unharmed thanks to the efforts of rescue workers. Firefighters from surrounding volunteer fire departments, totaling 75 comrades with 15 vehicles, were on the scene to combat the major fire.

This incident adds to a series of fires in Techentin and nearby Ludwigslust in recent years. Just a few days earlier, there was another fire at the training ground of the Techentin Fire Department. The authorities suspect arson in these cases due to lack of other explanations and ruled out technical defects.

The community of Techentin is now faced with the challenge of rebuilding and supporting the displaced residents in finding new homes. The police are continuing their investigations into these incidents as they work to determine what caused them and who may have been responsible for starting them.
