According to a recent report by U.S. News and World Report, Delaware has been ranked as the 21st best U.S. city to live in for 2024. The rankings were based on various factors such as economy, public safety, education, and others.

Delaware performed well in several categories including fiscal stability, healthcare, and education. However, it was ranked lower in infrastructure, crime and corrections, natural environment and economy compared to other states. The report gives more weight to the categories that are most important to residents such as healthcare and education followed by state economies, infrastructure and opportunities for residents. Fiscal stability measures of crime and corrections as well as a state’s natural environment were also taken into account when making the rankings.

When compared to its neighbors Delaware did better than Pennsylvania which was ranked 40th overall and Maryland which was ranked 22nd overall however New Jersey outranked Delaware coming in at 14th overall.

The top five states according to U.S. News and World Report are Utah, New Hampshire, Nebraska, Minnesota and Idaho while the worst five states are Louisiana, New Mexico
