In the fast-paced world of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), professionals are often focused on advocating for others and driving social change. However, in their pursuit of making a difference, they may unintentionally neglect their own wellbeing.

To address this issue, the Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) of Atlanta organized an event for Mental Health Awareness Month called “Don’t Let Your Heart Tip.” The event was co-designed and sponsored by longtime CVC member Kaiser Permanente, with the goal of reminding CSR professionals to prioritize their own mental health while supporting others.

The event featured a variety of speakers who shared insights and practical tips on mindfulness, wellness, and self-care. Brianna Goebel, a mindfulness and wellness coach, led attendees through a breathing exercise, emphasizing the importance of pausing, breathing, and realigning during times of stress. Dr. Mary M. Pike, Psy.D facilitated discussions to help attendees explore and connect with their emotions in a supportive community setting.

Chef Asata Reid discussed the relationship between food and mental health, highlighting the importance of nourishing the body with wholesome ingredients. Her recipe for Thai Cucumber Quinoa Salad showcased mindful eating as a form of self-care.

The event aimed to remind CSR professionals that taking care of their own mental wellbeing is essential to making a positive impact in the world. By nurturing their own hearts, they empower themselves to continue driving change and making a difference in their communities.
