In 2015, Mike Schloesser first claimed the top spot in the Sanlida World Archery Rankings, shortly after winning the World Archery Championships at only 19 years old. Since then, he has maintained his position at the top for over a decade, surpassing Sara Lopez’s record in the modern era since the launch of the Hyundai Archery World Cup in 2006. Schloesser’s success can be attributed to his dedication and consistency, shooting one arrow at a time multiple times a day.

In late 2023, Schloesser surpassed Lopez’s record for non-consecutive time spent at the top of the rankings, totaling 1758 days in the number one spot. His most recent stretch at the top began in mid-2021 and has seen him achieve success at various global events, including podium finishes at the World Championships and victories at the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final multiple times. Throughout his career, Schloesser has set the standard in the compound men’s archery discipline for over a decade.

Schloesser expressed his gratitude for being able to engage in his sport for such a long time, emphasizing that time flies when you’re having fun. He attributed his success to shooting one arrow at a time, multiple times a day, which has accumulated to this significant milestone. Schloesser expressed his pride in this achievement and hopes to continue adding more days to his reign at the top. Despite facing fierce competition and slim margins in archery, Schloesser has maintained his position as one of the best compound men’s archers of our time.
