In the 2025 season, Texas A&M has made a significant addition to their recruiting class by securing a highly talented kicker, Colton Chmelar. This move comes after a season in which several missed kicks had a significant impact on multiple games during the 2023 season. With new head coach Mike Elko leading the way, the Aggies have already secured commitments from 14 players in the 2025 cycle, including top recruits like five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet and four-star tight end Kiotti Armstrong.

One position that has been a point of concern is the kicker role, with senior Randy Bond currently being the only option heading into the 2024 season. While Bond was perfect on extra points, his performance from 40-49 yards was less than ideal, making a strong and accurate kicker a necessity for close games where a 40-yard field goal could be the difference between winning and losing.

Chmelar’s commitment will not only fill this gap but also bring some much-needed stability to Texas A&M’s kicking game for future seasons. Standing at 6’2″ and weighing in at 190 pounds, Chmelar is not only an outstanding kicker but also an incredibly talented wide receiver who plays soccer in his free time. Known for his powerful leg, Chmelar set a record by kicking a 66-yard field goal during his junior season, showcasing his ability to make long-range kicks consistently.

With Chmelar’s commitment to Texas A&M as their kicker for the 2025 season, fans can rest assured that they are bringing on board one of the best young talents in college football today.
