The University of Cincinnati’s defensive lineman Dontay Corleone is currently undergoing treatment for blood clots in his lungs, the university announced on Friday. This news came after Corleone, who earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors last season, experienced chest discomfort and shortness of breath and was hospitalized for evaluation.

The medical team, led by Aaron Himmler and Dr. Jon Divine, diagnosed and began treatment for Corleone’s condition. He has been recovering at home since his discharge on June 14. In a statement, Corleone expressed gratitude to his family, medical staff, and the University of Cincinnati for their support throughout his recovery process. He remains optimistic about returning to football and is focused on rehabilitating as a leader during this time.

Despite his absence from the field, Corleone is confident in his team’s abilities and eager to contribute in any way possible when he returns. Himmler mentioned that Corleone’s recovery is progressing well, with hope for a return to the field soon. The redshirt junior had an impressive season last year, totaling 39 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks.

Corleone remains determined to overcome his health issues and return to the game he loves. The University of Cincinnati and its fans continue to show their support for him as he navigates this challenging period in his career.
